Pearlescent pigments refer to decorative pigments with pearl luster. The pearlescent pigments are composited with mica as a matrix and coated with a layer of high refractive index TiO2 and other metal oxide transparent films. It is widely used in coatings, decoration and cosmetics, ink, ceramics and other industries. The pearl powder has superior performance, non-toxic, harmless, good gloss, heat resistance, weather resistance and chemical resistance.

On April 23, 2015, the United States issued a G/SPS/N/USA/2754 notification to amend the regulations on the use of pigments, intending to allow mica titanium pearlescent pigments to be used as food additives for distilled spirits. According to the latest regulations, when mica titanium pearlescent pigments are used in distilled spirits with an alcohol content between 18% and 25% (by volume), the maximum addition amount should not exceed 0.07% (by weight), and for those containing more than 5% The distilled wine blend of wine lifts the current restrictions.

In June 2015, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revised the regulations on food pigments to expand the scope of use of pigment mica titanium pearlescent pigments, and proposed mica titanium pearlescent pigments prepared from titanium dioxide and mica to be used in cordial, spirits, and flavors. Regulations on the safe use of alcoholic malt beverages, wine coolers, cocktails, non-alcoholic cocktail mixers and mixtures, and egg coloring tools. At the same time, the FDA will revise the list of food colorants exempted from product certificates and add mica titanium pearlescent pigments. The regulation came into effect on June 9, 2015.

The development history of mica titanium pearlescent pigments is very short, but the prospects are very attractive. As a fine chemical product, mica titanium pearlescent pigment has a high added value. In China, the resources of natural mica and titanium are very rich, and they have the material basis for the development of mica-titanium pearlescent pigments. At present, the production technology of white and rainbow pearlescent pigments has been mature, but the research on the development of coloring and functional materials is not very complete.

We can provide edible pearl pigments, mineral and non-artificial pigments can be widely used in various foods, such as cakes, ice cream, beverages, etc.! Because of its super high safety standards, food-grade pearlescent pigments must be equipped with GMP workshops, accept strict quality control, and comply with international standards for food and drug safety.

We can provide customers with solutions to ensure that the product's quality, color, gloss, safety and hygiene are 100% in compliance with the requirements, and significantly improve the texture of the product.

In view of the various disadvantages of carbon-based, metal-based, and metal oxide-based conductive pigments, the development of flake conductive composite functional materials based on mica or titanium mica is the focus of future research in the field of pearlescent pigments.

With the continuous improvement of people's requirements for the appearance and quality of articles, the application fields of mica-titanium pearlescent pigments are increasingly expanded, and higher requirements are put forward for the chromatographic range of pearlescent pigments. Therefore, broadening the chromatographic range of colored pearlescent pigments is another focus of future research.
